LEAD ANDROID DEVELOPER - FULL TIME, LONDON

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our IT Engineering department for a Lead Android Developer. As a lead, you will play a vital role in building and running the day-to-day of the Android team. You will enjoy sharing experience and skills to help develop your team members. You will be hands on to solve difficult technical problems whilst considering UX, performance, quality and security. You will devise elegant and creative solutions to challenging problems, highlight issues with existing architecture and tidy it up.

What you’ll be doing:

Key responsibilities

  • Manage our existing team of Android developers
  • Take the lead on our bespoke, highly scalable Android app
  • Build integrations into third party systems (e.g. Payment Gateways, ESP’s)
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to plan new features and functionality
  • Lead ongoing iteration of the user interface and functionality to improve the user experience
  • Work to constantly refine and improve performance of the application
  • Stay up to date with new technology and be willing to bring new ideas to the table
  • Be willing to help in other areas and learn new skills if necessary

What you’ll be able to demonstrate:

Skills and experience

  • An expert-level understanding of Java and Kotlin with 3+ years of commercial experience
  • Strong adherence to and understanding of key design patterns, e.g. MVVM
  • Solid experience working with 3rd party integrations and API’s
  • Proficient with Reactive programming
  • Knowledge of/experience of working in Agile/Scrum environment
  • A passion for creating clean and efficient code
  • Excellent written and spoken English
