LEAD FRONTEND DEVELOPER - FULL TIME, LONDON

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our IT Operations & Engineering department for a Lead Frontend Developer. As a Lead, you will play a vital role in building and running the day-to-day of the frontend team. You will enjoy sharing experience and skills to help develop your team members. You will be hands on to solve difficult technical problems whilst considering UX, performance, quality and security. You will devise elegant and creative solutions to challenging problems, highlight issues with existing architecture and tidy it up. As part of our in house team you will be able to produce your best work, in a relaxed creative environment, and you’ll be rewarded by seeing the impact of your work on real customers in the real world.

What you’ll be doing:

Key responsibilities

  • Manage our existing team of frontend developers
  • Take the lead in developing a bespoke, highly scalable frontend application
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to plan new features and functionality
  • Lead ongoing iteration of the user interface and functionality to improve the user experience
  • Take full ownership of our frontend web Apps and constantly refine and improve their performance
  • Stay up to date with new technology and be willing to bring new ideas to the table
  • Be willing to help out in other areas and learn new skills if necessary

What you’ll be able to demonstrate:

Skills and experience

  • Core frontend coding skills (HTML, CSS)
  • A strong proficiency in JavaScript and up to date with es6
  • A thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
  • Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Redux)
  • Solid experience working with 3rd party integrations and APIs
  • Familiarity with testing using frameworks such as Jest (experience with TDD and BDD is a plus)
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools (Grunt, Gulp etc)
  • Experience with tools like Babel, Webpack, NPM, Yarn etc.
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools in Git (Bitbucket, Github)
  • Experience with Node.js (Express/Next etc)
  • Knowledge of/experience of working in Agile/Scrum environment
  • A passion for creating clean and efficient code
  • Excellent written and spoken English
